True Colors 2
True Colors 2

“True Colors 2” reprises the color sensation of our first “True Colors” show. The images here deftly weave colors that range from eye-grabbing brights to soft pastels, from natural earth tones to mysterious deep hues. The many stunning images in this show come from around the world, representing 83 accomplished digital artists and photographers from 20 countries.

We judges—Gary Viskupic, Glen Christensen, and I—carefully considered all entries. From the 411 images we chose for the show, we selected 3 images for a GOLD STELLAR ART AWARD and 24 images for a STELLAR ART AWARD.

As in the past, this was a competitive show, and therefore, having even one image chosen for inclusion is an honor. As satisfying as it is to judge this show, it is also difficult to exclude images. But, this is a juried show. We want to say, in earnest, that every image we viewed showed promise, and we look forward to seeing the artists and photographers not selected continue to work and realize their promise.

I would like to thank my fellow judges, both of whom are graphics professionals with long resumes of accomplishment in visual arts. As Art Director of Buddah Records, Elektra/Asylum Records, and 20th Century Fox Records, Glen Christensen was, for many years, a major figure in graphic design in the music industry. He has received two nominations for the prestigious Grammy Award, for Best Album Package. Gary Viskupic has, to his credit, an extensive body of work in editorial illustration, most of it rendered during his long tenure as an editorial artist at Newsday in New York. In addition, Gary’s international freelance work has included many award-winning posters and illustrations. He has been recognized many times by such prestigious organizations as the Society of Illustrators, Graphis, The Society for News Design, and Print magazine. He is currently an instructor of illustration at New York Institute of Technology.
