True Colors
True Colors

The artists and photographers have done it again! They have embraced our latest show, “True Colors,” and have submitted works that masterfully weave colors of every hue and brightness through their fascinating visual concepts. These artists hail from 23 countries, including 18 states in the USA, and have once again made our show an international event.

Judging this show was a challenge, not only because it drew many more entries than our previous show, but also because so many great images arrived. Of course, that is a good challenge to have. After much consideration and discussion, our three judges (myself included) chose 310 images, awarding a Gold Stellar Art Award to three and a Stellar Art Award to thirty.

It should be noted that this was a very competitive show, and thus, having even one image chosen is a high honor. As much as we would have liked to have included every submitting artist, we did not, but what we can say is that every last image we evaluated showed promise. We hope that those artists whose work was not selected will continue working to further that promise.

Before listing the top award-winning images, I would like to thank my fellow judges, Glen Christensen and Gary Viskupic. These two graphics professionals have long resumes of accomplishment in the visual arts. As Art Director of Buddah Records, Elektra/Asylum Records, and 20th Century Fox Records, Glen was, for years, a major figure in graphic design in the music industry, where he garnered two nominations for the prestigious Grammy Award, for Best Album Package. Gary has to his credit an extensive body of work in editorial illustration, most of which he rendered while an editorial artist at New York’s Newsday. In addition, his international freelance work has included many award-winning posters and illustrations for magazine and book publishers. Gary has been recognized many times by such prestigious organizations as the Society of Illustrators, Graphis, The Society for News Design, and Print magazine. He is currently an instructor of illustration at New York Institute of Technology.
